3. Performance of Four
Potential One Hundred Game AL Winners
(How do things look
regarding those four potential 100-win teams needing a +38 score on
the UBWS18 Scale?)
3.1 In the AL East
Division
Boston, won five games
the first week, raising its UBWS18 score from +43.6 to +46.4. It won
six games the second week, raising its UBWS18 score to +50.

Seattle won four games
the first week, with its UBWS18 score falling slightly from +37 to
+36.4. It won four games the second week, falling from +36.4 to +33.2
on the UBWS18 Scale.
Conclusions:
After the first week of July, the Red
Sox, the Yankees, and the Astros were playing better than +38 on the UBWS18
Scale, which means that all three have a good chance of reaching one
hundred wins this season.. Seattle is a little below the +38 score on
the UBWS18 Scale, but can catch up by winning an extra game or two.
After the second week of July, the Red
Sox, the Yankees, and the Astros are still playing better than +38 on the
UBWS18 Scale. Seattle is still below the +38 score on the UBWS18
Scale. If it continues to slide back, Seattle may not only not reach
one hundred wins, but Oakland may also overtake it for the second
wild card spot.
P.S. As a courtesy to you, if you are also following the Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners, I shall include their statistics in my occasional New England sports blog entries.
