About the Boston Red Sox

Yesterday, the #BostonRedSox, Eastern Division leaders of the American League (now with a record of 60 wins, 41 losses, and a UBWS (#UnlessBigWinStreak) composite score of +31.2), lost their game with the Tampa Bay Rays, holders of one of the American League wild cards for the playoffs (now with a record of 59 wins, 41 losses, a UBWS composite score of +30.4, and just a half game behind Boston in the divisional standings). The game's final score was 3-0, in favor of Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay scored two (2) runs, one (1) in the first inning and another (1) in the fifth inning against Brandon Workman, Boston's starter. Matt Moore, the Ray's starter shut out the Red Sox batters, who were maybe still feeling the effects of Sunday's game that ended early Monday morning. Tampa Bay scored its final run in the ninth inning against Boston's reliever, José de la Torre. Red Sox batters managed just two (2) hits, one (1) single each by David Ortiz and Mike Napoli.

Yesterday in the Eastern Division of the American League, Tampa Bay and Baltimore won their respective games. Boston, Toronto, and the Yankees lost their games.

Today's game between Boston and Tampa Bay is the second game in this four-game series against the two (2) best teams in the American League at this time. The expected starting pitchers are Jon Lester for Boston and Roberto Hernandez for Tampa Bay.

The Red Sox are still ten (10) games away from reaching rheir first team objective of winning more than the 69 games that last year's team won. Along with Boston's statistics we shall also present Tampa Bay's statistics, since the Rays are only half a game behind Boston. The UBWS statistics for the two (2) teams are the following:
